The "Occupation Project" starts in DC. The Occupation Project is a campaign of sustained nonviolent civil disobedience to end the Iraq War. They will engage in nonviolent civil disobedience at the offices of Representatives and Senators who do not publicly pledge to vote against additional war funding. This is organized by Voices for Creative Nonviolence at www.vcnv.org

02/10/07 NAACP Major Legislative rally in Raleigh.

02/17/07 President's Day Weekend in DC to close down the SOA. Weekend starts with a dinner at the SOA Watch office at 7 PM, followed by all day training on 02/18/07, lobby training on 02/19/07 and lobbying on Capitol Hill on 02/20/07. The National Dept. of Peace Conference in DC will be held Feb. 2-6 2007

We have several people from District 11 here in WNC attending. Part of their agenda will be to visit with Congressman Shuler, Senator Dole and Senator Burr in their offices in Washington DC. We need letters from you to be hand delivered! Please take some time and write some letters. One to each ( Shuler, Dole, Burr) would be great, one to any of them would be o.k. too. Brief and personal are best. Let's send them a big message - it's time to get behind this bill (DOP HR 3760 in the House and S 1756 in the Senate)!!! Even if you have already contacted them- do it again!! We would love to send 100 letters- Get your letters to me, or send them to Laura. She needs them by the 31st of Jan.
